The Skinner is responsible for receiving and handling Specified Risk Material (SRM) from customers upon arrival at the plant. Other responsibilities of the role include removing hides from carcasses, and maintaining the tools and equipment used in the skinning process.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Receive Specified Risk Material (SRM) from customer drop-offs, and unload deadstock trucks and trailers
• Sort and hang deadstock carcasses using overhead rail systems in a safe and efficient manner
• Handle and remove SRM following strict standard operating procedures
• Remove hide from carcasses
• Load SRM conveyances
• Maintain tools and equipment used in the skinning process
• Perform thorough pre-trip inspection checks of mobile equipment
• Adhere to strict requirements related to cleanliness and safe operations of specific material risk handling
• Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
• Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract an asset
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
• Strong knowledge of skinning, knife skills, or slaughterhouse experience an asset
• Ability to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work procedures
• Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
• Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
• Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
