Purpose of the Role:
The Chief of Staff is a strategic leadership role designed to amplify the President’s impact and ensure organizational alignment. This position drives execution of the President’s strategic agenda with discipline, speed, and precision. Acting as an integrator, communicator, and operator, the Chief of Staff facilitates collaboration across the firm and ensures priorities are delivered effectively.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Partner to the President
Acts as a trusted advisor and sounding board on strategy, people, and priorities.
A key member of the Private Wealth leadership team, helps refine Private Wealth’s strategic and execution roadmap across all client segments and offerings.
Helps refine ideas and plans by asking critical questions, validating assumptions, and surfacing implications to support well informed decision-making.
Initiatives & Execution
Ensures the President’s strategic priorities translate into deadlines, owners, and outcomes.
Coordinates cross-functional initiatives (e.g., client segmentation, advisor growth, communications, etc.).
Tracks progress and removes obstacles between departments.
Often leads special projects that cut across functions.
Collaboration & Organizational Alignment
Drives communication and consistency across Advisors, investment teams, marketing, operations, compliance, and leadership.
Prepares the President for key internal meetings and ensures follow-through.
Works behind the scenes to keep teams informed and aligned on the firm’s mission and annual goals.
Coordinates with key partners including legal, consultants, centers of influence and strategic clients.
Communication & Messaging
Coordinates Private Wealth communications in partnership with Marketing including: All-firm updates, Advisor announcements, client facing memos, Board materials, and strategic presentations.
Ensures messaging is consistent, timely and reflects the firm’s values and positioning.
Operational Excellence
Designs and implements repeatable processes where needed to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee onboarding and integration of new Private Wealth leaders in partnership with People and Culture, fosters cultural alignment and relationship-building.
Lead and mentor support staff, ensuring high performance and exceptional service standards.
Governance & Leadership Enablement
Works with the President’s leadership team and Executive Assistant to manage quarterly business reviews, strategic planning cycles and leadership team agendas.
Ensures meetings are purposeful and action items are executed.
Acts as a proxy for the President when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
15+ years of related experience in a leadership role and / or supporting senior executives, ideally in financial services, wealth management, or family office environments.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or industry certifications are assets.
Proven experience in project management, strategic planning, and executive communications.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders at senior leadership and Board levels.
Exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and ability to navigate sensitive dynamics.
Experience designing or improving strategic systems, processes, or governance structures.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer.
Compensation & Benefits Package:
This position comes with a base salary range of $130,000 - $160,000 plus a competitive performance bonus, RRSP contribution and participation in our profit-sharing program. Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
