JOB PURPOSE
Reporting directly to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, the Senior Business Systems Analyst acts as a bridge between business opportunities and technology solutions, providing key insights that drive process improvements and system efficiencies within organizations. The Business System Analyst will translate and analyze business needs, document requirements, and translate to system specifications that IT teams can develop and implement. The ideal candidate will have good experience in tier 2 ERP systems in manufacturing and distribution environments.
The Senior Business Systems Analyst will also be responsible for developing and documenting formal test strategies and plans.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Requirements Process and Flow Mapping
Analyze business requirements and technical capabilities to meet customer needs
Lead requirement, elicitation process and design sessions in prototyping new ERP functionality or requested changes including integration with other systems
Compile all business requirements and processes/workflows and translate into ERP solution
Collaborate courteously with different internal units, external consultants and other stakeholders in designing and implementing solutions
Research, troubleshoot and mitigate transactional and other ERP project related issues
Configure functions and workflow to facilitate ERP system usage and integration with other applications
Performing business applications and workflow analysis, and disseminating technical communications into a business context
Creating user guides, training curriculum, and other pertinent documentation for internal and external partners in support of operationalization
Participate in the development and execution of implementation/rollout plans
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of ERP and integrated applications
Support the continuous improvement of Business processes and new ERP system functionalities to support organizational evolution
Use basic SQL queries to write queries for data analysis, validation, troubleshooting, and reporting.
Documentation, Communication & Training
Translate technical specifications into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders.
Create comprehensive documentation, including user guides, training materials, SOPs, and technical specifications.
Assist in training internal users and providing post-implementation support.
Be an active part of the ERP implementation team, supporting training delivery and user adoption across departments.
Quality Assurance/Testing
Define, determine, and document testing methodologies and test strategies for the ERP project
Ensure testing activities are scheduled, executed and delivered following best practices, and to our quality standards, while meeting tight deadlines
Lead all application testing efforts by utilizing Requirement Traceability Matrix to link the requirements to testing scenarios
Translate business, technical, and functional requirements into detailed test plans and test cases, and execute test scenarios that would guarantee maximum coverage
Be an integral part of the project core team in providing data, functional, integration, performance, and regression, testing.
Proactively identify bugs, seek resolution and maintain testing schedule
Track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results, and test statuses
Ensure all identified risks from testing are escalated and mitigated appropriately
With hands-on testing, detect, isolate, reproduce, track defects, and verify fixes
Lead and set standards for business team members to achieve testing goals and quality work
Conduct testing of the ERP and integrated applications to ensure they meet organizational requirements and business objectives
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Programming or relevant work experience
5+ years in a Business Systems Analyst role in tier 2 ERP system(s)
Experience with SQL or ERP Data Query/Reporting tools and programming knowledge is required.
Experience UAT testing is a requirement
Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills, both written and orally
Ability to relay technical information to non-technical users
Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
Aptitude for learning new technologies, business process improvement opportunities
Excellent analytical skills to evaluate information/data from multiple sources
Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment with conflicting and changing priorities and deadlines
Knowledge/understanding other systems like PLM, Master Data Management and Salesforce is an asset.
