Position Details: The Associate, Accounting supports HCCA’s day-to-day accounting operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records by preparing trial balance reconciliations, journal entries, tax filings, and supporting payroll and vendor set-up activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform trial balance account reconciliations using SQL to obtain subledger details, identifying and resolving variances
•Participate in month-end close and prepare journal entries
Prepare and post payroll entries; reconcile entries to payroll register and T4 summary
Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns for all provinces
Assist in the calculation of the monthly income tax provision by completing required schedules
Participate in vendor set-up, including creating new vendor records, processing changes, and verifying information with vendors
Other duties as assigned
4+ years experience in an accounting or finance role
Experience with reconciliations is required
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Solid understanding of reconciliations
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; self-starter with high integrity, strong work ethic, and adaptability
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Advanced Excel skills
SQL is an asset
