Job SummaryThe Division of General Surgery at ARHCC and the Fraser Heath Authority are looking to hire an acute care general surgeon to join the group, including one existing ACS surgeon. It is expected that the applicant will be proficient in a broad range of acute care general surgery and emergent endoscopy. The ideal applicant will also be comfortable with trauma surgery.
As a member of the Fraser Health medical staff, you will participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program and are expected to apply for a clinical faculty appointment in the Division of General Surgery, UBC. Other surgical specialties include urology, orthopedics, ENT, plastics, thoracic surgery and OBGYN.
There are currently eight general surgeons in the group servicing the busy catchment area of Fraser East. Call is structured as weeks using an acute care surgery model. The successful candidate is anticipated to do 12 - 16 weeks of call per year. During each call week, there is a limited daytime trauma OR slate and emergent endoscopy time available, which are in addition to daily after-hours emergent surgical time. No resources will be made available for elective surgery or elective endoscopy. The successful candidate is also expected to provide outpatient follow up for acute care patients. A MOCAP level 1 agreement provides an on-call stipend.
