About the role
As a member of the Operations Team, the Plant Supervisor will be responsible for achieving operational efficiency by optimizing available resources, applying business processes and establishing an efficient flow cycle. This position is responsible for ensuring that all operators and jobs are running smoothly and shipping on schedule, while promptly addressing any production concerns. It also involves maintaining a safe work environment for all staff on the production floor and overseeing production processes to guarantee compliance with established quality standards and specifications.
What you'll do
Working within the Operations team to meet the demands of the business including but not limited to:
Operations and Logistics
Oversee the full production and inspection process
Ensure machines, operators and inspectors are running on schedule and monitor progress throughout the day
Resolve work/machinery problems and coordinate machine maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
Analyze and assess gaps and delays in the production and inspection process and find solutions for continuous Improvement (Safety, quality, efficiency, attainment to schedule)
Carry out workforce planning, approve hours and manage vacation/time off requests
Ensure training coordination (upon hiring and on an ongoing basis)
Track competencies and performance of operators, develop employees’ skills and provide coaching where needed to help employees succeed in their role.
Maintain and enforce a safe working environment and ensure safety rules and all regulations are followed. Ensure protective gear is worn as required.
Work on specific projects as needed
Ensure all safety issues are dealt in a swift and safe manner.
Ensure process, quality and safety standards are always met
Oversee receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods to meet customer deadlines.
Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct cycle counts.
Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and compliance with material handling standards.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), identify variances from targets, and implement corrective actions to close gaps.
Develop and maintain a rolling production schedule to meet customer demand while optimizing capacity and resources.
Prioritize and level-load work orders to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion.
Lead initiatives to identify and resolve quality issues, reduce defects, and improve overall product reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or college degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Management, or a related field
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP) and MS Office, especially Excel for data analysis.
Preferred Requirements:
5+ years in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
APICS or similar certification in supply chain or operations management is considered an asset
