Job Overview
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager or designate, Maintenance Level 1 Associates ensure that Meaty Meats' BlueRock facility and all relevant resources are ready and suitable for the production of the company’s goods. Maintenance Associates are responsible for meeting all sanitary and operational guidelines.
As a maintenance department member Level 1 Associates are tasked with maintaining the facility and all of its equipment. This ranges from washing and sanitizing through to general preventative and operational maintenance, all to HACCP standards and specifications. Maintenance Associates will document and report required maintenance as well as physically complete regular greasing and lubrication of parts, basic level troubleshooting, parts exchange and installation, and even assist in more involved installations and repairs. Maintenance Associates are required for new equipment and line installation as they are the primary healthy facility operatives.
The position requires candidates who can equally complete physical and administrative tasks both documenting and organizing work as well as completing it. Collaborative team software is primarily used at the Meaty Meats Inc. BlueRock facility as opposed to more traditional software suites such as email, word processors, and spreadsheets.

Maintenance Associate is a tactful and pragmatic thinker who can logically assess and resolve any operational problem set and one who brings a measured and creative approach to completing their tasks. This candidate aspires to a role of Maintenance Level 2 - Maintenance and Repair or Sanitation Lead.
Main Duties
Assist Maintenance Associate Level 2
Complete schedule maintenance items as assigned including:
Machine and equipment assembly/disassembly
Minor repairs and fixes
Intermediate troubleshooting
Safely operate equipment
Complete daily logs and checklists:
startup
shutdown
HACCP
operational metric data
PostOperational inspection
Complete and maintain relevant certifications:
WHIMS
First Aid
Meaty Meats Inc. HACCP team member
Meet all KPI targets such as:
Break-fix versus scheduled maintenance
Line down times
Scheduled supplies versus emergency supply procurement
Quality based metrics
Sanitation deviations or observations
Equipment maintenance upkeep
Equipment and Sanitation operation optimization
Knowledge transfer and learning database maintenance
Digitized information systems use
Maintain safe practices
Clean and sanitize the facility nightly as assigned
Clean the areas immediately surrounding entry and/or exit doors
Clean and sanitize employee welfare areas
Report all maintenance items
Maintain and upkeep sanitation equipment, and utensils including personal equipment
Proficiently communicate in written and oral forms
Work with different cleaning chemicals and detergents and sanitizers
Tidy and organize equipment storage areas
Organize and adapt to differing work conditions
Understand rudimentary equipment assembly/disassembly/function/safety/use
Organize work schedules as required

Working Conditions
Food manufacturing environment – wet or damp floor, heavy food processing equipment, animal fat/grease, noise below 85 decibels
Temperature ranges from 4 degree Celsius to -18 degree Celsius
Occasional requirements to perform duties and responsibilities outside regular hours.
Education and Skills
High School diploma
Excellent time and work management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with a variety of team members
Competent problem-solving skills
Drivers license G with Z endorsement
Highly organized and meticulous in maintaining all systems and operational items
Practical and working knowledge of 5S, lean manufacturing, Kaizen, HACCP and CFIA
WHIMS and applicable Meaty Meats Inc. HACCP certification
Demonstrated excellent use of the Information Systems and their overall value to facility and operations management
