Job Description: Department Overview The Commercial Mortgage Group (“CMG”) supports the existing Business Banking / TD Securities / TD Canada Trust client base providing commercial mortgage products across the asset class spectrum that are competitive within the Canadian marketplace. Our goal is to deliver commercial mortgage products at all times and in all market conditions, subject to assets, structure and other risk parameters being acceptable. Job Description The Director, Origination (Director) works as part of a team, together with Underwriters, in supporting commercial mortgage opportunities with a portfolio of institutional real estate clients. The position focuses on growing the portfolio by developing new business from the Director's own network as well as liasing with TD Securities and TD's Commercial National Accounts businesses. The position also contributes to portfolio term renewal retention activity & strategy. The Director reports directly to the VP – Origination, Commercial Mortgage Group. Cover a broad array of clients across both multi-unit residential and commercial asset classes, with a strong understanding of CMHC financings Contribute to meeting annual sales and retention targets for the Commercial Mortgage Group Operate with a high degree of independence from inception of a mortgage transaction through to closing, funding, and post-closing monitoring Maximize relationship RAROC for all customers, ensuring the minimum required threshold is met / exceeded on each new loan Possess understanding of institutional customer base, structuring of capital markets style transactions, and have a strong working relationship with partners throughout TD Securities, Commercial National Accounts, and Wealth Management Refer prospective business to other internal partners in an effort to deepen TD's relationship with our customer base Assess highly complex credit requests to determine risk and make appropriate recommendations to the assigned Underwriter for packaging / writing the credit Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank and Industry Codes of Conduct Structure and package creative & competitive solutions to meet evolving customer needs Be a central point person for referral and CMG product / market information for TD Securities and Commercial National Accounts, and willing to be involved in actively sourcing ways to grow our relationship with corporate client base.
