Job Type: Permanent Department: Hourly Wage: $19.33 Close Date (closes at 12:00 am on date noted below): January 3, 2026 Openings: 6 Position Summary Reporting to the Coordinator, Recreation, this part-time position is responsible for providing guidance and direction to Skate Patrollers and Sports Monitors, responding to customer concerns and providing a safe and enjoyable environment to sport and skating program participants. Major Job Responsibilities Program implementation with a focus on quality customer experiences Foster a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for all participants Maintain and submit attendance records and/or drop-in stats. Ensure all participants have paid and meet entry requirements; this may include wearing wristbands, being of a specific age, etc. Engage with participants and politely enforce the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants Oversee Skate Patrollers and Sports Monitors, and ensure all duties of their position are being followed Provide guidance and oversight to volunteers Establish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants. Communicate with sponsors when needed upon arrival for set up and promotion Maintain a safe and clean facility including proper usage and use of equipment. Proactively communicate program needs to operations staff and communicate facility or equipment deficiencies to Recreation Coordinator Ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants; evaluate situations for potential safety risks and proactively take action to address such risks. Communicate any action and/or concerns to Recreation Coordinator Maintain communication with the Customer Service Desk to provide relevant program updates and to request support in the event of an emergency Maintain a high level of professionalism and handle sensitive situations with mature judgement Communicate with sponsors when needed upon arrival for set up and promotion Provide suggestions to Coordinator, Recreation on ways to enhance the customer experience Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act Report any incidents, concerns or site damage to Coordinator, Recreation, ensuring all appropriate forms are filled out accurately and completed Submit required forms (including payroll) Attend and participate in mandatory staff trainings and meetings Education & Experience Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age Two (2) years of experience playing (at an organized level) or officiating skating or sports is preferred Previous supervision of program participants (children, youth or adults) and overseeing part-time staff and volunteers in a recreational environment Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C” HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (preferred) Competent skating ability is required for Skate Shift Leaders Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening Experience working with persons with disabilities an asset Interested applicants should apply online at www.milton.ca under the Careers section by 11:59 pm on January 2, 2026.
