Job Title: Project Lead - Sexual and Reproductive Health Project
Location: St. John’s, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2027
Closing date: December 20, 2025, or until filled
Reporting to the Manger of Social Work and Health Services, the Project Lead - Sexual and Reproductive Health Project will oversee Phase 2 of its Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) initiative to strengthen health education and care for newcomers in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Project Lead will translate evidence into action by co-developing culturally and linguistically appropriate resources with newcomers, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders. Key project outcomes include newcomer and stakeholder consultations, needs assessments, and the adaptation of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) materials, oversee the creation of an online SRH resource portal, and develop training to be implemented with health care providers practicing in the regional health authorities. The Project lead is responsible for development, testing and evaluation of knowledge translation strategies, and oversees the work of project staff including a Project Assistant and specialized contract staff.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Establish and support a Newcomer Group comprised of immigrants and refugees, with special focus on women and gender diverse peoples, to guide materials design, and content development and implementation
Engage key partners to ensure subject matter expertise is included at relevant project stages
Develop and culturally relevant SRH modules based on established best practices to train practicing health care providers on newcomer SRH
Facilitate project participation by addressing gaps and barriers to participation
Develop and adapt sexual and reproductive health (SRH) materials, such as pamphlets, videos, pictographs, considering phase 1 evidence
Implement training curriculum for healthcare practitioners using project materials
Employ project management methodology, including maintaining project timelines as prescribed by the funding agreement, using principles of gender analysis, empowerment, engagement, anti-racism, and anti-oppression
Submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and final project updates and reports as required by management and/or funders
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters Degree in Social Sciences with in-depth knowledge related to gender inequality, sexual and reproductive health rights, or related field
Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed service delivery
Knowledge of health care services and systems in NL
Demonstrated skills in promoting cultural awareness and sensitivity working with diverse client groups
Experience working with at-risk populations, specifically newcomer women, 2SLGBTQIA+ and other gender diverse peoples
Demonstrated ability to complete research and develop presentations and/or training resources
Demonstrated ability to manage project plans and schedules
Ability to collaborate and lead provincial and community partners
Strong skills in building relationships and rapport
Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable personal vehicle is required
Ability to travel is required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
Valid First Aid Certificate is an asset
