If you are an experienced Inventory Control Specialist, Emerson-Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elmira, ON location, reporting to the Production and Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining inventories of materials, equipment and stock using manual or computerized inventory systems. The Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role within the Warehouse and Production teams and the company at large. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and will possess a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills as it relates to inventory accuracy and the impact on the overall business.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
Develop and maintain a true cycle count process. This includes ensuring accurate processes related to daily cycle counts of inventory, bin location, making vital adjustments to reflect accurate inventory in the warehouse management system (WMS) as directed/authorized, reconcile physical inventories with computer counts and lead the annual physical inventory process.
Compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of materials, equipment and stock on hand, using manual or computerized inventory systems
Maintain inventory integrity by performing root cause analysis and conducting investigations related to inventory discrepancies, including short/over product; Make recommendation for process improvements to eliminate them
Coordinate with Logistics and Sales teams to investigate and minimize rejections; Report damaged products and rejections to personnel with authority.
Assist in the development and update of effective departmental work instructions; ensure that the appropriate standard operating procedure (Work Instruction) is followed, and deviations are adequately documented and backed up.
Identify areas of improvement and work with Production/Planning to implement Kanban arrangements on the shop floor
Assist in shipment processing:
Outside Processing - pick components, collect materials for shipping and handle proper documentation.
Assemble orders and prepare goods for shipment
Lead RMAS - sort, pack and unpack raw materials and finished goods and receive into System
Report damages and nonconformance to QA
Move raw and scrap material and equipment throughout shop
Ensure Company policies with respect to inventory, returns, receiving, shipping, samples and damages are adhered to
Provide backup to Warehouse Team Leader
Support and promote the company philosophy of Emerson’s 12 Safety Lifesaving Behaviours.
Communicate effectively between different departments including management
Perform general housekeeping duties and follow the 5S + 1 system
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business environment related to operations

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
Post-secondary education/college/diploma in supply chain, logistics, or operations management
3-5 years of relevant inventory control experience is required
Proven solid understanding and experience with ERP systems.
Experience using Warehouse Management Systems | RF Scanner
Must be proficient with MS Office, in particular, advanced skills with Excel (able to run reports, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Formulas etc)
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; effectively able to communicate both written and oral
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong ability to multitask
Strong in metrics and the ability to display and analyze trends for the purpose of improvement
Proven ability in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to complete scheduled tasks
Forklift certification or the ability to be certified
Legal authorization to work in Canada – sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
Solid knowledge of Oracle is an asset
Previous experience in handling returns and claims will be an asset
Previous Lean, ISO and/or Six Sigma experience/certification preferred
