Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is hiring a Senior Grocery Clerk (Delivery) at our 13th Ave Food Centre location in Medicine Hat, AB. The Senior Grocery Clerk, plays a key role in in supporting home and business delivery services for food, pharmacy, and liquor products within the community. This role is responsible for loading customer orders into a company vehicle, following scheduled delivery routes, and ensuring all deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Load customer orders into a company vehicle and complete scheduled deliveries safely, professionally, and on time to homes and businesses.
Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, ensuring accuracy and care when handling orders.
Collect, stage, and deliver Click & Collect orders, including stocking and organizing customer items as required.
Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards throughout the grocery department and storage areas.
Follow all safety procedures and company policies, traffic laws, and operational guidelines when driving and performing deliveries.
Communicate effectively with the Grocery Manager and team to ensure smooth coordination of delivery schedules and store operations.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age to work and handle within a liquor environment and must have Pro-Serve or be able to obtain within 30 days.
1–2 years of experience in a retail or grocery environment is preferred.
Ability to provide a clean drivers abstract, as part of the recruitment process
Ability to complete and successfully pass a pre-employment Driver Evaluation performed by a third-party company appointed by South Country Co-op Limited.
Ability to complete and provide a clean criminal record as part of the recruitment process.
Ability to pass a pre-employment alcohol and substance test.
Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Proficient with basic technology and Windows applications; able to adapt to new systems as needed.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and a positive, action-oriented approach.
Strong planning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions
Full availability required, including days, evenings, and weekends (between 10am–10pm).
Frequent lifting (over 50 lbs) and physical activity including standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Manual dexterity required for POS equipment and product handling.
Extended periods of driving in various road and weather conditions.
