Job Description
Participate in the supervision of all electrical activities (testing and commissioning) work in electrical substations (115kV/44kV);
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports pertaining to the work progress, QA/QC results, and work with the contractor on site to have an actual and anticipated expenditures;
Familiarize yourself with the requirements of the project and its particularities, such as environmental, quality and safety techniques;
Verify the quality of plans and specifications and their compliance with current standards;
Comment on contractors' quality plans;
Make sure the contractor follows only the latest revision of the drawings issued by the engineer of records;
Ensure that the quality plan is applied with regards to technical, safety and environmental requirements;
Participate in processing of the necessary reports on the work as a whole, such as progress of work, monitoring of supplies, labor, materials, additional work, damage to property and the environment, technical defects, questions, technical modifications and those relating to quality system procedures;
Review and approve all QC (Quality control) check list;
Participate in the follow-up of non-conformance reports following work supervision;
Ensure that no non-conformities or deficiencies impede commissioning;
Provide site recommendations to enhance or optimize the activities;
Liaises with the contractor and all subcontractors;
Follow client’s working hours and adhere to the safety requirements;
Perform any other related tasks.
Qualifications
Must have substation construction experience, at least 2 years and great knowledge in all associated activities especially electrical activities (testing and commissioning) for substation and hydro project and should be able to read all engineering design drawings;
Knowledge of Hydro-One standards;
Capable of providing field recommendations to the sub-contractors working on-site;
Capable of giving general feedback on RFI (Request for information) generated by the sub-contractor;
Driver’s license required (Class G);
Knowledge of computer tools and MS Office software;
Knowledge of SharePoint;
The candidate must be available to travel 2 weeks In and 1 week out for the duration of the project (rotation bases), however the job may take the present of the inspector for more or less time-based on-site condition, statutory holidays...etc;
Fluency in spoken and written English.
