Position: Finishing Editor
Location: Vancouver, BC (On Site)
*Pay Range: $30.00 - $45.00 CAD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Company 3 Vancouver provides world class post-production services for world renowned feature films, mini-series and episodic television productions. Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, the Finishing Editor works closely with the Head of Production and Producers in the needs of the projects at the facility.
MAIN DUTIES:
The Finishing Editor is responsible for conforming high resolution picture elements per the client provided metadata and reference media for the final edit. Also, responsible for VFX drop–ins, preparing color timelines, titling, rendering various versions, and mastering final picture — editorial support for the Finishing Colorist, as well as supervised client sessions for QC and VFX reviews. The candidate must have high technical proficiency, able to thrive in a fast–paced environment, manage time efficiently, work on multiple projects concurrently, and operate with meticulous attention to detail. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Online a high volume, of high-end episodic series and feature film projects.
Manage, organize all episodic and theatrical projects, from conform to delivery, including exports of final masters creation of archives.
Blackmagic Resolve conforms, VFX management and drop–ins, timeline maintenance, color-tracing, potential QC fixes, implementation of revisions on tight deadlines, and creation of confidence check QuickTimes for client (editorial) review.
Ensure accuracy with limited notes from the creative editorial team.
Proficiency in the fundamentals of video editing while also working with compositing tools such as After Effects & Fusion including the creation of simple motion graphics, retouching & basic clean-up.
Provide recommendations to increase efficiency.
Exhibit excellent attention to detail and an outgoing and positive attitude.
Be comfortable in a client attended session and provide outstanding customer service.
Communicate the status of ongoing projects to Producers and the Operations Manager as well as clearly identify and define any issues that may arise.
Any other duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in post-production as a Finishing Editor. They must have strong technical knowledge of Dailies process/Workflows, and proficiency with digital technology and editing software packages: Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve (preferred), Avid, Flame, Final Cut Pro, and Premiere. They will have experience and design sensibility with building titles & credits, motion graphics, basic VFX, strong interpersonal skills: ability to interface with clients regularly and maintain excellent working relationships, and they must be able to work independently with little supervision. Additional desired skills include:
Adaptable to change, reliable and dependable.
Strong technical background, able to troubleshoot system and connectivity glitches.
Basic understanding of color correction, with a good eye for image quality.
Knowledge of the Ins and Outs of HDR file-based workflow and color science.
Must have thorough knowledge of various digital imaging file and data codec + formats.
Fluency with Flow Capture, Frame.io, PIX, Vimeo, and other delivery and content review platforms.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Resourceful and flexible with sound judgment and integrity – calm under pressure.
Organize media for archiving and liaising with the Data I/O team to ensure the storage is managed efficiently.
Must be a team player who can work closely with other departments.
Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn.
