Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sets up and operates manual lathes, manual milling machines, drill presses, presses, grinders, saws and other machines to construct or repair primarily carbon parts but can also work with various metals.
SPECI FIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Works from factory work orders, prints, written specifications, sketches or verbal instructions.
Uses all necessary machinists’ hand tools including scrapers, chisels, files and measuring instruments.
Utilizes knowledge of shop mathematics, charts and tables. Uses standard bolts, screws, threads and tapers, etc. to efficiently plan work.
Utilizes knowledge of working properties of carbon, aluminum, brass, and alloy steels.
Works to required tolerances and is responsible for quality of work produced.
Responsible to notify supervisor of tooling requirements.
Grinds own tools of high-speed steel, satellite or carbide.
Follows preventative maintenance procedures as outlined by machine manufacture or supervisors.
May be required to assist in machine repair.
Keeps machine and work area clean and orderly.
Keeps machine lubricated.
Makes proper job and time reports for timekeeping and tracking.
Instructs other machine operators as required.
Performs other duties as assigned utilizing normal skill and ability of the current position.
Remains aware and follows all health and safety practices. Works in a safe fashion and reports any concerns to supervisor.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Training: High school education plus 2 years technical training
Experience: Requires over 5 years of experience in related or subordinate work, plus 3-15 months on the job training
Knowledge/Skills: Require ability to understand and solve technical problems of average nature.
Requires the understanding and ability to program graphical machine interfaces.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be self-motivated, work independently yet still be team orientated
Able to analyze, and resolve situation as needed
Able to deal with different level of personalities/stakeholders
Able to lift up to 30lbs
COMPENSATION:
Competitive starting wage of $37.62/hour, with scheduled increases after 3, 6, 9, and 12 months
Plus an additional $1.15/hr premium for Carbon Machining
