The Division of Respirology, Department of Medicine, University Health Network/Sinai Health (UHN/SH) at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto is seeking a Respirologist with clinical focus on Airways Disease to join the Toronto Hospital Department of Medicine. The primary location of practice is Toronto Western Hospital, 399 Bathurst St, Toronto, ON M5T 2S8, with some clinical activities at Toronto General (200 Elizabeth St, Toronto, ON M5G 2C4), Princess Margaret Hospital (610 University Ave, Toronto ON M5G 2M9) and Sinai Health (600 University Ave, Toronto, ON M5G 1X5) sites. The successful candidate will also assume the position of Divisional Education Coordinator for a renewable 5-year term.
The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician-Teacher or Clinician in Quality Improvement and Innovation, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and patient care activities. Advanced and/or graduate training in Airways Disease is required for this position. Familiarity with the University of Toronto postgraduate Internal Medicine training program is an asset. Applicants must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is April 1, 2026, or thereafter.
Clinical responsibilities will include attending on the Respirology inpatient consultation teaching services, outpatient clinics in Airways Disease and General Respirology, and interpretation of pulmonary function tests. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching of medical trainees at all levels. Candidates will also be eligible for a cross appointment to Sinai Health (600 University Avenue, Toronto, ON M5G 1X5).
As Divisional Education Coordinator, the successful candidate will oversee the combined UHN/SH Department of Medicine subspecialty rotation in Respirology. Reporting to the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Education, the Education Coordinator ensures that the rotation is meeting the expectations of the Internal Medicine training program and delivers a superior educational experience to trainees in Respirology.
The successful candidate must hold a MD degree or equivalent, be certified (or eligible for certification) in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and hold, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.
Proficiency in English is required.
Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $300,000 - $380,000 (fee-for-service estimate) and commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience.
