This role is situated within Career Exploration & Education. Career Exploration & Education creates curricular and co-curricular learning experiences at the intersection of career, equity, and wellbeing in partnership with student, recent graduate, tricampus, and employer communities. Taking an ecosystem approach, we work intentionally to design and deliver career learning experiences that ensure students and recent graduates have the opportunity to thrive in their careers. Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Employer Recruitment & Engagement, supervised by the Lead Coordinator, Employer Recruitment & Engagement, and working with other members of Career Exploration & Education, the Employer Strategy & Engagement Specialist will be responsible for building and cultivating relationships with employers, alumni, and campus partners and maintaining labour market literacy to inform the coordination of recruitment initiatives and networking activities for students and recent graduates. This includes providing outstanding service to professionals across a range of industries, sectors, and organizations by ascertaining both their immediate and long-term recruitment needs while also communicating the diverse needs, interests, talents, lived experiences and expectations of U of T students as it relates to their career goals. The Employer Strategy & Engagement Specialist will strive to explore the realities of the labour market and work with employers to develop more inclusive hiring practices, increase access to opportunities for students who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, and/or as a person with a disability, and create spaces for meaningful engagement and reciprocal learning between industry professionals and students from all lived experiences and academic programs.
The incumbent will lead the business development, proactive recruitment and partnership building with new and established employers who wishto recruit and engage University of Toronto students across all faculties, programs, and year levels for employment, educational and co-curricular programming purposes. This would also include assisting external partners and community members in navigating the University ecosystem, making effective referrals to campus career and co-op offices, facilitating educational panels, posting opportunities and hosting events such as career fairs, employer information sessions, recruitment blitzes, and identifyingopportunities for collaborative programming across Career Exploration & Education and across the tri-campus community to best meet the needs of students and recent graduates.
The role will also include outreach to partnering organizations with strong Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and AODA mandates to increase career and employment opportunities, support and empower equity deserving students and students with disabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
- Analyzing and recommending actions to increase employers' visibility
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
- Developing learning outcomes for workshops and/or services
- Evaluating learning outcomes for program development
- Determining key performance indicators to measure success
- Facilitating educational workshopsand seminars
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing program activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in a university career centre, co-op or recruitment setting, developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach.
- Experience managing effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders(including employers, alumni, students, staff and faculty).
- Experience with the development, facilitation and assessment of workshops and educational programming.
- Experience in employer development and knowledge of best-practices; developing, coordinating and implementing large scale programs.
- Experience working with Indigenous and equity-deserving students, with a focus on intersectionality.
- Proven ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and independently prioritize own workflow.
- Strong relationship cultivation, building and management skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Customer service-oriented.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to source information and data using the Internet and social media sites such as LinkedIn.
- Strong written communication skills (e.g. report writing; drafting content for marketing materials) and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a diverse university student population in order to meet the needs of students.
- Broad knowledge of labour market trends.
- Demonstrated investment in creating equity, equitable access, and inclusive engagement, including the ability to collaborate with Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) and students who identify with a disability, employer, and campus partners.

USW Pay Band 11 -- $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
