As an Intern on the RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) Corporate Communications team, you will support teammates in delivering high-quality, captivating external and internal communications activities to build and protect the reputation of RBC and help GAM employees stay informed. The ideal candidate has excellent written and editorial skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an interest in media and the finance industry. You will join and support the RBC GAM Corporate Communications team for the summer, and be required to collaborate in a fast-paced environment. Roles and responsibilities will vary but include: Supporting teammates in delivering high-quality, captivating external and internal communications within short timelines Drafting press releases Helping with media relations efforts (e.g. developing media lists, pitch ideas and working with internal spokespeople) Writing articles for GAMspace, RBC GAM’s intranet Supporting internal employee engagement activities Completing other communications projects and assignments as required What do you need to succeed? Must-have: Working towards a Bachelor or Masters degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or other related field Strong personal skills and the ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment Professional written, editorial and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical, communication and problem solving skills Highly organized with excellent attention to detail Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines Ability to think critically, creatively and “outside the box” Nice-to-have Knowledge and an understanding of the finance industry Avid consumer of news Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Products and Adobe Experience with content management systems and email tools Previous experience working at a financial institution Please note: In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either: Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully What’s in it for you?
