Overview
Reporting directly to the R&D Manager, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for working cross-functionally with other Functional Groups within the Business Unit to lead specific structural and mechanical projects for Air-Core Coil products. The Mechanical Engineer participates in dynamic projects that may arise during the development and commercialization of new products or technology. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer must support Sales and Operations by promptly developing and implementing practical and economical engineering solutions.
Your Tasks:
Sales and Operations
Participate in the qualification of new materials and standard parts.
Support the inside sales department with evaluating mechanical design aspects of Air-Core Coil products to determine the feasibility of customer requirements.
Support the engineering department by reviewing customer specifications and developing economical mechanical solutions to meet technical requirements.
Support Test Lab with the development and execution of mechanical test procedures.
Support QA with root cause analyses of non-conformances.
Occasionally travel to customer sites to coordinate and supervise the installation of equipment.
R&D
Lead mechanical R&D projects to support cost reduction initiatives.
Develop and coordinate the fabrication of prototypes.
Coordinate and conduct R&D tests programs to support the validation of prototypes.
Work collaboratively with external research partners.
Work collectively with legal counsel to prepare intellectual property documentation.
Participate in the development of in-house software.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated Mechanical engineering experience in related fields.
Professional Engineering License a plus.
Proven ability to develop mathematical computer models and perform engineering calculations related to structural dynamics and vibrations.
Ability to conduct R&D tests, evaluate test data and validate prototype performance.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, plan tasks and organize work assignments.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Mathcad and AutoCAD.
Experience with FEM using NISA and/or ANSYS a plus.
Ability to interpret civil and material codes a plus.
Excellent communication skills and organizational skills
Ability to navigate through SAP a plus.
