Description:
Understanding the healthcare ecosystem is critical to developing practical healthcare entrepreneurship. Knowledge about the key players in the health industry, how they interact with each other, and the standard operating procedures is vital for promoting health entrepreneurship. This course provides an overview of the healthcare industry, including the key processes that create value, emerging consumer dynamics in the health value chain, and developments in policy and technology that are transforming the sector.
The University of Toronto instructor will be co-facilitating the course with their KNUST counterpart. Partnering University: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana

Class schedule: In-person (Kumasi) 2-hour seminar-style sessions plus class field trips; occurring from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM GMT between Monday, January 12th, 2025 – Friday, January 23rd, 2026.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in Health Sciences or a related field.
Preferred qualifications: Previous experience in teaching, project management, health ecosystem exploration, field experience, translational research, and student evaluation.
Description of duties: The instructor will be responsible for achieving the course objectives: broadening students' understanding of the health ecosystem and health entrepreneurship, guiding them through identifying business opportunities related to health ecosystem problems, and developing the skills to foster a sustainable health business.
The instructor will design in-field contextual inquiry trips and take-home activities, co-creating the mid-term and contributing to the final examination.
