Job Title: Overnight Duty Manager

Position Summary
The Overnight Duty Manager provides overnight leadership, ensuring the safety, comfort, and service continuity for all guests and team members across The Sutton Place Hotel and Revelstoke Mountain Resort properties. This role oversees guest experience, security, emergency response, and after-hours operational needs to maintain a consistent level of hospitality and protection throughout the night.
The Overnight Duty Manager acts as the primary on-site decision-maker during overnight hours and ensures all standards, policies, and procedures are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
Serve as the primary point of contact for all overnight guest interactions, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Support late arrivals, early departures, and special guest needs while maintaining brand standards.
Conduct overnight property rounds to ensure guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and safety.
Ensure VIP arrivals, special requests, and in-house concerns are actioned and communicated to the day teams.
Security & Safety Oversight
Oversee overnight building security, including key control, door checks, and surveillance monitoring.
Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols; identify and report hazards, suspicious activity, or maintenance needs.
Lead emergency response procedures (fire alarms, medical incidents, evacuations), ensuring proper documentation and escalation.
Enforce quiet hours and respond to noise disturbances in a professional, guest-focused manner.
Operations & Property Management
Serve as the operational lead for the hotel and RMR overnight
Complete nightly operational logs, incident reports, and handover notes for management.
Assist with overnight housekeeping or engineering support when necessary (e.g., room moves, minor maintenance resets, linen runs).
Verify cleanliness and readiness of hotel public areas, lobbies, hallways, elevators, and exterior walkways.
Support resort-side operational needs such as coordinating with Patrol, Grooming, or Facilities teams when required.
Team Support & Leadership
Provide support and direction to overnight staff (Front Desk, Security, Housekeeping, Engineering).
Ensure policies and procedures are followed, especially around guest safety, cash handling, and incident escalation.
Foster a calm, professional, and hospitality-driven environment even during challenging situations.
Administrative & Reporting
Prepare nightly summaries including occupancy updates, incidents, guest feedback, and follow-up items.
Oversee lockouts, lost & found logging, and night audit support as needed.
Liaise with senior hotel leaders regarding major incidents, emergencies, or service failures.
Qualifications
Previous experience in hotel operations or guest services in a leadership capacity.
Strong situational awareness and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Must hold OFA Level 2 (minimum), or be willing to obtain OFA2. RMR will support training and certification.
Comfortable working overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
