About the Role:
Corus Entertainment is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to join the Broadcast Operations team at our Toronto location as a Media Processing Operator.
Reporting to the Lead, Media Processing, the Media Processing Operator is part of a team responsible for quality control, metadata creation and feed reception for all networks originating from Corus and syndication packaging for Nelvana. The team works extensively with various internal departments and external clients, maintaining a high level of customer service while meeting strict deadlines in a 24/7/365 media processing environment.
You will contribute by:
Quality control of all content for Corus originated TV networks
Processing content using a media asset management workflow system
Setup and reception of quick turnaround feeds (satellite, fibre, etc.) in a high paced environment
Transcoding content utilizing various file-based workflows
Ensuring Accessibility elements go to air in accordance with conditions of license
Creating segmentation metadata and logging content impairments and Canadian Broadcast Standards Council infringements into a database
Creating deliverables according to client specifications for the syndication department
Following existing departmental procedures, workflows, and documentation
Using non-linear editing systems to perform basic edits
Liaising with and properly escalating information to internal teams and external clients
Staying current with equipment, workflows and procedural changes required to perform tasks
Providing content and support in a 24/7/365 media processing environment for Nelvana and all networks originating from Corus
Skills and experience you will bring:
Diploma or degree in broadcasting, communications, media or other technology fields or equivalent experience
Understanding of video codecs, formats and standards, aspect ratios, multi-channel audio configurations (2.0, 5.1, DV), and closed captioning
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro
Working knowledge of Mediator media asset management system
Experience with tuning and receiving satellite signals
Understanding of file-based workflows and server-based technology
Proficiency in computer skills – Microsoft Office suite and other integrated applications and communication tools
Must be adaptable, able to multi-task and work with acute attention to detail
Communicate in a positive, friendly manner and with a customer service approach
Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism, empathy and sincerity
Able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, overnights and weekends
Fluency in French, Spanish and Italian is an asset
