Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management, the Risk Manager will require good judgment, initiative, curiosity, confidentiality, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-moving and often highly sensitive environment. Furthermore, you will need to provide strong leadership and customer support to an internal and external customer base that is remote from your location. Periodic travel is a requirement of the position.
Key elements of this role include:
Supporting the operating companies as they manage their commodities portfolios. This would include analyzing deal structures, determining and facilitating any management approvals pursuant to various company policies and procedures.
Administer regular risk meetings, including overseeing agendas and preparing/organizing meeting materials.
Monitoring for adherence to internal policies and authorization limits, and, as necessary, ensuring any issues are duly investigated and reported on.
Assisting with market risk and credit questions from the operating companies as well as in the negotiation of master agreements, for the purchase and sale of physical commodities and financial products.
Analyzing and evaluating counterparty creditworthiness and transactional credit requirements.
Creating, maintaining, and updating databases, files and records related to risk & credit processes and approvals in a manner that is sufficient to be shared amongst Middle Office staff and meets applicable internal and external compliance standards, including SOx.
Acting as a champion for the Company’s ETRM system, Allegro.
Preparing and presenting reports for various committees.
Establishing procedures and providing training to personnel on the Policy and associated practices.
Supporting Emera and/or its Affiliate Enterprise Risk Management activities as required.
Acting as a direct manager to an Analyst.

Eight or more years of experience as an analyst or in a related role.
An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field of study.
Strong understanding and application of MS suite of tools.
Strong relationship and communication skills as well as excellent multi-tasking abilities.
Someone who thrives in a fast paced, often stressful work environment.
Needs to take initiative in building and maintaining customer relationships
Open minded and flexible in adapting to change and adopting new software applications as well as be a strong team player.
