Your impact
As a Senior Contracts Manager | Commercial Legal Counsel at OpenText, you’ll play a key role in shaping and supporting a growing, dynamic line of business. You’ll be a trusted legal advisor, partnering with cross-functional teams to negotiate, draft, and optimize a wide range of commercial agreements, including cloud services, software licenses, and professional services. Your guidance will influence how our business innovates, launches new products, and manages risk, while also helping the Legal team operate more efficiently and strategically.
What the role offers
Negotiate, draft, and provide practical guidance on a variety of commercial technology agreements in support of North American sales activity.
Advise on company transactions, novel product offerings, and go-to-market strategies.
Evaluate risk, update templates, streamline processes, and create efficiencies for the Legal team.
Deliver training, manage projects, and support cross-functional stakeholders.
Use AI and technology tools to enhance legal processes and support a business that is innovating in this space.
Serve as a trusted advisor and problem-solver, building strong relationships with internal clients, teams, and external partners.
What you need to succeed
4+ years of experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, preferably in technology, software, or SaaS.
Strong legal expertise, whether from an in-house or law firm environment.
Enthusiasm, pragmatism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Confidence working with senior leaders, lawyers, and professional colleagues.
Experience supporting regulated industries and interest or knowledge in data privacy and security is a plus.
Strong judgment, integrity, and attention to detail, with a knack for problem-solving.
Comfort working across multiple teams—sales, marketing, engineering—and understanding the complexities of a multifaceted business.
Ability to learn quickly, recommend process improvements, and help shape company templates and best practices.
