POSITION: New Product Development Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Product Development
SALARY: Compensation commensurate with education and experience,
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary 12-15 months, Full Time

Island Abbey Nutritionals provides full contract manufacturing, bottling, and packaging services for white-label production from concept to launch.

The New Product Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in formulating, reviewing, and scaling up new product formulations from concept through to manufacturing. This position requires a strong background in product formulation, a keen understanding of manufacturing processes, and project management skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulation Development:
- Lead the development and optimization of new product formulations.
- Work closely with NPD team to create innovative and effective product solutions.
- Conduct experimental trials and analyze results to refine formulations.
- Formulation Review:
- Evaluate and review formulations to ensure they meet quality, regulatory, and cost standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance and Operations, to ensure formulations will meet testing requirements and scale up efficiently.
- Scaling Up:
- Oversee the scale-up process from laboratory to manufacturing.
- Develop and implement scale-up strategies to ensure a smooth transition and consistency in product quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the scale-up phase.
- Project Management:
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively within NPD.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of product development milestones.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor products.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance formulation processes and product performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's of Science degree in food science, nutrition, chemistry, biotechnology or related field preferred
- 4+ years of experience in product formulation in food, dietary supplement or pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably with gummy experience
- Must be well organized and demonstrate effective time management skills
- High attention to detail.
