As a Project Accountant, you will be detail-oriented, systems focused and comfortable working with high volumes of data to support project sites and serve the financial reporting needs of the company. This person will be able to support the needs of the on-site project management team while working in the corporate office. A team approach is mandatory and will require an open-minded and adaptable work ethic.
Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze project costs, track budgets, and ensure expenditures are accurately recorded in accordance with contract terms and financial standards.
Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and compliance with project budgets.
Process project billing accurately and on time, ensuring alignment with contract terms and project milestones.
Collaborate with the project team to ensure proper revenue recognition based on project progress and financial reporting standards.
Prepare and maintain construction project-specific financial reports, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports, cash flow forecasts, and profit margin analyses.
Assist project managers in preparing and maintaining project budgets and forecasts.
Leverage technology and accounting software to improve system efficiencies with a focus on reducing time spent on data preparation and increasing time spent on analysis.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
Proficient with MS Office
Advanced understanding and command of MS Excel
Working knowledge of accrual accounting
Preference will be given to individuals with civil and/or industrial construction project experience
Experience with Acumatica is an asset.
Although the working schedule is Monday to Friday, the ideal candidate should be willing and available to work weekends as required, based on the needs of the project. A hybrid work arrangement would be considered for the best suited candidate.
