Position Summary:
The Events Coordinator plans, coordinates, and executes cultural and community events for the Wellness Department and Saskatoon Tribal Council. This role supports STC’s mission to engage Indigenous communities and promote cultural heritage through high-quality event delivery.
Responsibilities:

Collaborate with managers and/or senior leadership to design and schedule events;

Liaise with internal teams, community representatives, vendors, venues, and contractors to ensure smooth logistics;

Develop event concepts, creating budgets, and ensuring cost-effective planning;

Oversee booking of venues, catering, audio/visual equipment, and transportation;

Ensure event branding aligns with STC’s cultural values and style guidelines;

Coordinate event promotions: invitations, social posts, signage, registration, and ticketing;

Collect attendee feedback and event metrics;

Prepare post-event reports with outcomes and recommendations;

Monitor and report on event budgets;

Research best practices and emerging trends in Indigenous and cultural event planning;

Recommend process improvements and enhancements to community experience;

Research and select appropriate venues;

Coordinate event activities on the day of the event, ensuring everything runs smoothly;

Communicating with clients to understand their needs and expectations, ensuring satisfaction;

Ensure events adhere to legal regulations and safety standards;

Work with a team to delegate tasks and ensure a cohesive approach to event execution;

Build relationships to ensure that stakeholders are aware of the culturally relevant services;

Build networks and relationships with Aboriginal and non–Aboriginal groups while promoting awareness;

Support community capacity building of cultural, traditional and ceremonial grounds, spaces and materials;

Participate in strategic direction planning, implementation and coaching of community wellness teams;

Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the manager or designate on an as and when required basis.

Education and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Administration, Marketing, Communications, Business, Tourism, or equivalent Indigenous cultural knowledge and experience may be considered;
- 2–4 years of event coordination, preferably in Indigenous, non-profit, or community-focused contexts;
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Teams, and event platforms;
- Familiarity with Adobe PDF tools;
- Deep respect for Indigenous traditions, protocols, and community relations;
- Excellent verbal and written communication; confident in public-facing roles;
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task under tight deadlines;
- Creative problem solver with initiative and adaptability to feedback;
- Strong interpersonal abilities and teamwork mindset; effective collaborative leader;
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team;

- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and meet STC’s insurance requirements;
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment.
