Summary
Diamond Aircraft Industries is seeking a Senior Production Planning Specialist to support aircraft manufacturing operations by owning end-to-end production planning, scheduling, and coordination. This role works closely with the Production Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure realistic build schedules, material readiness, capacity alignment, and on-time delivery across multiple aircraft programs.
This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role requiring deep experience in complex manufacturing environments, strong ERP proficiency—specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central—and the ability to translate demand into executable production plans.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop, maintain, and continuously optimize master production schedules (MPS) aligned with aircraft demand, capacity, and material availability
Translate sales forecasts, firm orders, and engineering changes into detailed, executable production plans within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Ensure production plans are realistic, achievable, and aligned with labour, tooling, and resource constraints
Capacity & Constraint Management
Perform capacity planning for labour, work centres, tooling, and key resources
Identify bottlenecks, risks, and constraints early; recommend mitigation strategies to the Production Manager
Support make/buy and sequencing decisions through capacity and lead-time analysis
Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the primary planning interface between Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management
Manage schedule impacts resulting from engineering changes, non-conformances, supplier delays, and labour variability
Support daily and weekly production meetings with accurate, data-driven planning inputs
ERP (Business Central) & Data Ownership
Own and maintain planning accuracy in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including:
Production and work orders
Routings and lead times
Bills of material (BOMs)
Capacity and scheduling parameters
Drive continuous improvement in Business Central planning data integrity and system utilization
Develop and maintain planning reports, dashboards, and KPIs (schedule adherence, WIP, throughput, OTIF)
WIP Forecasting
Create WIP inventory forecasts and measure variances to budget and targets
Create strategies to reduce working capitol by effective WIP planning and scheduling
Continuous Improvement
Lead or support lean manufacturing and production planning improvements
Standardize planning practices across production lines and programs
Support internal and external audits and regulatory requirements relevant to aerospace manufacturing
Required Qualifications
7–10+ years of production planning, master scheduling, or manufacturing planning experience
Strong experience in complex, regulated manufacturing (aerospace preferred; automotive/defense acceptable)
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, capacity planning, and shop floor execution
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aircraft or high-mix / low-volume manufacturing
APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent
Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma
