A Day in the Life: The Human Resources Business Partner is the primary point of Human Resources contact for the business. They provide professional HR guidance, coaching and support in identifying, developing, and delivering human resource strategy and solutions, collective agreement interpretation, resolving employee relations issues, leading recruitment initiatives, and identifying and responding to unique human resources related trends and issues within the assigned portfolio. This role is based on site at our Vancouver Cascadia Port Terminal. What You’ll Be Doing: Implement and facilitate rollout of HR programs, policies and processes (e.g. performance management and related salary and compensation programs, succession planning, and on boarding programs). Proactively analyze and identify people issues and trends and recommend appropriate actions. Provides expertise, guidance, and coaching on a variety of HR issues, including sensitive and complex employee relations matters. Provides full cycle HR support on all labour relations grievance and arbitration matters as well as absence management and employee discipline matters. Facilitates manager training on various HR programs. Partners with leaders in workforce and succession planning and develop annual staffing plans. Anticipates training/development needs, partnering with various internal HR COEs in the development of plans/programs, and coordinates implementation within the client group. Manages annual compensation process for assigned portfolio as well as ongoing employee compensation issues. Acts as a change agent and manages changes related to corporate initiatives. Provide HR support and guidance on new projects programs and policies. Coach managers and employees on career planning and assists with the development plans. Advise on the interpretation and application of the collective bargaining agreements, corporate policies, and employment legislation. Actively participates in the daily operations of assigned portfolio (i.e. department meetings, calibrations, planning sessions, etc.). Performs other duties as required. Skills/Experience Requirements: Minimum four (4) years Human Resources experience in a generalist role within a unionized work environment, Post secondary degree in Business Administration or Human Resources, Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered, Excellent business acumen, leadership ability, and strong consultative skills, Ability to establish effective relationships that allow influencing others, Strong written and oral communication skills, Display ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, Strong organization and time management skills, Possess excellent mediation and conflict resolution skills, Problem solving and ability to offer solutions, A CHRP (Certified Professional Human Resources) designation is an asset.
