We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our clients' dynamic finance team on a temporary assignment for potential to be hired. In this role, you will work in complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the accurate preparation of financial reports.

Responsibilities
Manage and oversee general ledger accounting, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial data.
Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and other regulatory requirements.
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits related to financial reporting.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities through detailed analysis and reporting.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor payments, collections, and cash management strategies.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline operations and enhance reporting accuracy.
Prepare regulatory reports and assist with external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Perform technical accounting research on complex transactions involving non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or other specialized areas as needed.
Requirements
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.
Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Proven expertise in financial report writing, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management.
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures.
Hands-on experience with IFRS standards and non-profit or governmental accounting is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to utilize multiple financial software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent tools effectively.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping systems along with debits & credits fundamentals.
Experience supporting budgeting processes including forecasting and variance analysis is desirable.
