Ocean Capital Holdings Limited is adding capacity to our existing team and has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant to work in our Saint John Office, with the option of considering Halifax as the primary work location. This position reports to the Manager- Accounting and will provide a broad range of services and support to Ocean Capital Holdings Limited (OCHL) and related companies. The successful candidate will join an experienced team of Senior Finance, Investment, and Accounting professionals. As an integral member of the accounting team, you will play a critical role in financial reporting, daily accounting functions cash management and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements and schedules, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis for multiple companies and present to Senior Leadership.
Coordinate with operational finance teams to prepare consolidated financial reports and analysis.
Prepare annual budgets and schedules including management reporting.
Assist in creation of annual management and shareholder reporting.
Manage day-to-day transactional processing: billing, cash forecasting.
Be a key resource to support and engage with audit processes – internal and external.
Assist with the development and implementation of formalized accounting and reporting policies and standards.
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives within our team and cross functional teams.
Required education, experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.
5-7 years of progressive accounting experience post CPA completion.
Degree in Business Administration.
Experience with consolidated financial statements and US GAAP would be considered strong assets.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with mid-market to top tier ERP system.
Experience in applying foreign currency translation methods and managing exchange rate impacts in financial reporting and consolidations.
Strong presentation skills, capable of delivering complex financial information in an engaging and accessible manner.
Proven experience collaborating with and presenting to senior leadership.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Industry experience considered an asset.
Managerial or supervisory experience considered an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Reliable self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage priorities.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
