Position Summary

As a Practical Nurse Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping learner success by delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring learners through clinical and lab experiences, and fostering the skills, knowledge, and confidence required for their nursing careers. Faculty in the School of Health and Wellness are responsible for providing instruction to students; evaluating student progress, designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials, and supporting students in meeting the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.
This position focuses on simulation-based education to prepare Practical Nurse students for safe, competent practice. The instructor will facilitate learning in simulation labs, guiding students through real-world patient care and high-fidelity simulation scenarios. Responsibilities include scenario preparation, pre-briefing, facilitation, debriefing, and maintaining a psychologically safe learning environment. The instructor will integrate best practices in simulation settings to enhance clinical judgment, critical thinking, and practical nursing skills.
What You’ll Do
Provide quality instruction
Select effective instructional strategies and create lesson plans to support diverse learner needs.
Support curriculum development and ensure course content remains current and relevant.
Evaluate learner performance and provide clear feedback to support growth and progress.
Facilitate positive learning experiences across face-to-face, blended, online, and clinical settings.
Support learners in navigating challenges, accommodations, and access to student services.
Participate in college and program events, including orientations, graduations, and community outreach.
Maintain strong professional relationships with health care stakeholders, employers, and advisory groups.
Responsibilities encompass all faculty professional duties related to instructional delivery, including teaching preparation; program and course development; evaluation; student support such as remediation and consultation; participation in special projects and College committees; and other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor in Nursing is required
Minimum of 4 years of current practice experience
CLPNA License without restriction or CRNA Practice Permit without restriction
CPR Health Care Provider Level
Up to date immunization records
Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector
Ability to work to full scope of practice
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with simulation technologies and modalities
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE or equivalent)

This opening is a part-time (.50), temporary Faculty position, anticipated to conclude in July, 2027.
