Job Posting: Training Constable Posting Type: Internal Posting date: August 13, 2025 Closing date: August 20, 2025 We invite online applications applications from our sworn members for a position of Training Constable. PURPOSE OF POSITION Report directly to the Sergeant i/c Training and assist in managing and coordinating the activities of civilian and uniform personnel in relation to the Training Section. The incumbent should have a strong desire to teach others and be an excellent role model. Duties of this position may involve liaising with all levels of the organization and other policing agencies. Preparing and conducting verbal, written, and digital presentations is an important facet of this position. This position requires the designated member to research, design, plan, co-ordinate, and schedule, debrief, facilitate, and distribute training material to sworn members, civilian members, Auxiliaries members, and volunteers within the Citizens on Patrol program. This includes the preparation of lesson plans. Train personnel on material that addresses updates in law, current changes in legislation, crime trends, safety issues or any such items that would be required for the member's benefit, that of the service, and that of the community. Record and file the attendance of members receiving training and make available said records upon request in accordance with the Service’s Policy and Procedures. Orient new members and arrange for the swearing-in of officers. Liaise with Field Training Officers in regards to the training of new sworn members. Participate as a member of committees involved in training and related issues. Responsibilities also include the review and processing of Use of Force Reports, and the operational management and maintenance of the Brantford Police Service's firearms range. Shall, in the performance of duties, respect and protect human dignity and maintain and uphold the human rights of all persons. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Making verbal, written and digital presentations Research, design, plan, co-ordinate, schedule, debrief, and facilitate and distribute training material to sworn members, civilian members, Auxiliaries members, and volunteers within the Citizens on Patrol program Prepare lesson plans Evaluate, assess, and document training and attendance records of all members Organize, perform, and document the orientation of new recruits Recruiting, testing, training, and provide continued education of Auxiliary Officers Recruiting, training, and provide continued education for Citizens on Patrol volunteers Review and process Use of Force reports Report directly to their Supervisor, as determined by the Organizational Chart Be accountable to their Supervisor for their activities, effectiveness, efficiency, discipline, and appearance Perform such other duties as are lawfully assigned NOTE: The duties listed are not set forth for the purpose of limiting the assignment of work. Knowledge Working Knowledge of Policing Adequacy Standards Manual particularly in relation to Training issues Thorough understanding of relevant legislation Thorough understanding and good working knowledge of the organizational structure, Routine Orders, Policy and Procedures, CALEA, and practices within the Service as it pertains to training and duties performed Thorough understanding and good working knowledge of Adult Educational Theory, Systems Approach to training Skills Experience that shows a knowledge of supervisory practices Computer literate in CAD, RMS, Niche, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Above average presentation skills Verbal and written communication skills Ability to be creative and dynamic in the learning environment Time-management and organizational skills Abilities Ability to exercise good judgment and make good creative decisions Ability to observe, retain and prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and operate general office equipment Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of comprehension Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community partners Ability and willingness to work with other law enforcement agencies Ability to incorporate modern digital mediums into training Must be capable of multitasking and producing work under strict and definitive deadlines All other qualifications the position justifies Interested applicants are invited to complete an Internal Position Application Form and submit it electronically no later than Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 4:00 pm.
