Responsibilities The anesthesia tech supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the Anesthesia Techs and Patient Care Assistants. Effective communication with anesthesia staff, surgical services staff, residents, nurse managers, and other departments on behalf of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine is essential.
Major functions include maintaining high patient care standards and performing anesthesia tech duties as needed.
Anesthesia tech supervisor will be responsible for personnel, operational, financial and institutional management within the anesthesia tech area as follows:
Personnel: Interviewing and hiring, scheduling, training, performance management, performance reviews, implementing and interpreting clinic and department policies and procedures, maintaining an effective working relationship with clinic and hospital personnel, and the confidentiality of employee and patient information, fostering staff development and education.
Operational: Workflow analysis, expense management, scheduling, and resource allocation. Long range planning for appropriate staff coverage models
Financial: Purchasing supplies, communicating with vendors and expense management.
Institution: Participation in committees and work groups, networking with colleagues to improve patient care and service. Also responsible for projects and assignments as assigned by the CRNA Manager, CRNA Supervisor, Department Chair or Operations Administrator.
Qualifications High school diploma/GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum Three years of anesthesia tech or peri-operative experience or two years of management experience preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required.
Knowledge of reprocessing guidelines, quality assurance, inventory control, and continuous performance improvement concepts preferred.
BLS certification required. Anesthesia Technician Certification preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
