Math and Science Teaching Assistant
Position Overview:
The Math and Science Teaching Assistant will support our Math and Science departments in our Senior School (Gr. 9 -- 12). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain real school and classroom experience. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for coaching students on a daily basis while working with and being mentored by talented educators in the Senior School. The Teaching Assistant will be connected to the specific department and have the opportunity to provide learning support in their teaching area. They will also get the opportunity to cover classrooms and get experience in all areas of the school community.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Co-plan and facilitate student learning in credit courses
- Provide enrichment and/or support for students
- Assist teachers with building assessments and evaluating student learning
- Explore and promote research-based best practices
- Learn through reflective professional practices
- Teach some classes where possible
- Support students with post-secondary applications
- Facilitate discipline-based study sessions in the student success centre
- Perform assigned student supervision duties as required
Qualifications
Education and Designation:
- University degree
- Member, or process of becoming a member of the Ontario College of Teachers or hold a Teacher Certificate
- Math and/or Science knowledge required
- Proficient English skills
- Self-starter interested in growth and professional development
- Student-centred, collaborative, reflective and receptive practitioner
- Innovative, including cross-curricular integration appreciation
- Empathetic and caring
- Global-minded
- Experience coaching young people is an asset
Salary Range: $40,000.00 To $46,000.00 Annually
