Opportunity
We are looking for a 3rd or 4th year Mechanical Engineering student for a summer term starting in May through to August. This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to real-world projects, and gain valuable industry experience in design, testing, and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the mechanical design team in maintaining and developing 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, or similar)
- Assist in the prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical components
- Perform basic engineering calculations and tolerance analyses
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into design revisions
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, firmware, and manufacturing
- Conduct research on materials, components, and design approaches as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- 3rd or 4th year enrollment in Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering
- Basic understanding of electronic components, circuits, and systems
- Familiarity with schematic design software (e.g., Altium Designer, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, C, or C++) is a plus
- Experience with testing equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Eager to learn and apply engineering principles in a practical setting
- Motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks
