HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR
HUMAN RESOURCES BRANCH
Reporting to the Manager of Talent Acquisition \& Workforce Planning, the Human Resources Coordinator works within the Human Resources Team to provide support with Human Resources administration, projects, and other activities. This role primarily provides support to the Human Resources Recruitment team with promoting and maintaining the candidate experience as related to onboarding, staffing, strategic recruitment and workforce planning, supporting other areas of the HR Department as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares and posts job postings and advertisements on internal HRIS Career Portal, external career site, job specific organizations, and other job posting sites such as LinkedIn.
- Performs initial screening of job applicants, short lists candidates based on required qualifications and performs phone screening
- Coordinates schedules and arranges interviews with panel members and candidates.
- Administers written assignments and tests as needed
- Performs employment reference checks on candidates
- Arranges and conducts new employee documentation sessions
- Supports temp agency Vendor of Records recruitment process
- Coordinates and monitors police and background check process and other items of documentation
- Supports recruitment initiatives such as career fairs and other outreach initiatives
- Researches, compiles and analyzes data for special human resources projects and reports.
- Maintains information related to methods to source candidates, i.e. job posting web sites or professional associations
- Creates and maintains recruitment files ensuring timely and accurate records
- Advises Manager of any problems in execution of administrative and team responsibilities and participates in the planning for resolution of problems
- Acts as a back up to the Human Resources Assistant answering phones and performing a variety of general office duties
- Supports other areas of the Human Resources Department including Labour Relations, Disability Management, Health and Safety, Organizational Development, Compensation \& Benefits and HR Operations as needed.
- Acts in accordance with and incorporates Society's Code of Ethics, Confidentiality, Anti-Oppression/Anti-Racism, Harassment \& Discrimination policies, etc.
- Uses sound judgment in consideration of financial resources
- Complies with Society's financial policies and procedures
- Works in a safe manner in accordance with the Society's health and safety policies and procedures and all relevant legislation
- Performs other tasks as required
Education and Experience
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources with at least one year of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources practices and office systems
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; tactful and diplomatic with internal and external contacts
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Responsive to and capable of providing timely communication on all issues of consequence
- Proven ability to take initiative and work independently
- Creative problem solving ability
- Possess a confidential and tactful manner
- Excellent computer skills with proficient using Microsoft Office, HRIS and similar complex databases
- Proven team player with an aptitude for working in a collegial and collaborative environment
- Flexible and able to manage high work volumes and conflicting priorities with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in a second language an asset
- CHRP designation an asset
