Duties:
- Manufacture a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic devices while ensuring patient safety and high quality by following prescriptions provided and manufacturer recommendations.
- Trouble-shoot devices that are not working optimally by diagnosing and servicing the componentry.
- Advise clinical staff of fabricating options (cosmesis, strength of device and suitability) by utilizing information gathered from manufacturers of materials/components and comparison studies.
- Develop and maintain fabricating skills and procedures through continuing education.
- Instruct and supervise work term students and volunteers by providing guidance and support.
- Provide back-up coverage to Senior Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician during planned absences and as required.
- Assist in the promotion of the department as directed by manager.
- Perform any other duties at the manager's request that are deemed relevant to the position.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an OPC recognized technical Prosthetic and Orthotic program is required
- OPC registered preferred
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to work with your hands
- Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines
- Evidence of commitment to continuous education
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Strong technical aptitude
- Basic computer skills
