Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.
In October of 2023 De Havilland Aircraft of Canada announced the acquisition of Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2). Mid Canada Mod Centre is comprised of industry leading experts focused on ensuring commercial, charter, special mission and business aircraft operators are equipped with flight decks that provide safety and efficiency. As a premier Canadian aviation maintenance shop, the team of experts works to define avionics requirements to develop and certify solutions that fit each operator's individual need.
Profile
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Aeronautical Structures Designer / Liaison to join our team in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. This role supports the structural design and efficient integration of systems on aircraft within the scope of new MC2/ADS programs.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Design of structural modifications, including new equipment and antennas installations using SolidWorks.
- Create Model Based Definitions and/or detailed drawings of the structural components.
- Ensure compliance with relevant specifications and aviation regulations (CAR, FAR, CS).
- Efficiently review existing design and using that data to evolve or optimize that design.
- Conduct on-site aircraft surveys to identify effective modification strategies.
- Review internal drawings for technical accuracy.
- Be able to optimize competing design criteria.
- Collaborate respectfully and efficiently with production technicians and cross-functional teams.
- Clearly articulate design decisions and provide rationale when required.
- Proactively seek input and guidance from senior engineering staff.
- Contribute effectively as a member of both the design team and the broader Engineering department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in aerospace structural design, preferably in aftermarket modifications.
- Proficient in mechanical design practices.
- Experience with typical aircraft structures and systems architecture is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel if required.
Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft office suite.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to think creatively and adapt quickly in a dynamic work environment.
