Position: Communicative Disorders Assistant
Status: Temporary Full-Time (up to 12 months with possible extension)

Salary: $25.09 - $29.54/HOUR
Hours of Work: Day shifts (Subject to change based on operational needs)
Position Summary:
The Communicative Disorders Assistant, working under the general direction of the Manager of Allied Health and Clinical Services and under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist, provides clinical care to assigned patients and performs associated functions to support service delivery. The Communications Disorders Assistant participates in discipline-specific activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
Education And Experience:
- Completion of a recognized graduate certificate program as a Communicative Disorders Assistant
- One year previous experience working in a similar role in a Hospital setting
- Demonstrated training, skills, and education in rehabilitating patients in the areas of communication and swallowing.
- Current BCLS certification
- Experience working with adults with acquired neurogenic disorders is an asset
Skills And Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of rehabilitation and the rehabilitation process
- Demonstrated understanding of the scope of practice of the Communicative Disorders Assistant
- Ability to follow directions regarding tasks assigned by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist
- Excellent interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills; verbal and written
- Self-motivated, reliable, and patient-focused team player
- Good attendance and availability required
