The firm has a broad-based practice that includes bankruptcy/insolvency, business law, commercial lending, commercial litigation, commercial and residential real estate, condominium law, employment and labour law, family law, immigration law, planning and development law, personal injury, and wills and estates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in both secured and unsecured debt collection matters.
- Provide advice/vetting security interests.
- Assist with receiverships and insolvency matters.
- Manage all aspects of bankruptcy matters from filing through discharge.
- There may be opportunities to represent clients in all manner of commercial litigation, including breach of contract, commercial lease enforcement, employment, injunctions, shareholder disputes, real estate and construction lien matters. This would include having carriage of commercial litigation files, including drafting, conducting examinations, arguing motions, participating in dispute resolution, and appearing at trial.
Key Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in insolvency law and debt collection. Commercial litigation experience would be an asset, although it is not required.
- Excellent advocacy skills, including drafting, conducting examinations, and appearing in court on contested matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong client relationships.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This position requires in-office attendance of at least 4 days per week.
