Warehouse Accountant -- On Site

Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking an Onsite Warehouse Accountant
This position is a full-time 100% onsite position in Toronto
Job Description:
The On-Site Warehouse Accountant is responsible for directly managing the accounting control of inventory within the warehouse, physically validating stock movements and ensuring proper supporting documentation. Their presence on the ground allows for immediate response to inconsistencies and fosters better integration between logistics operations and accounting. This role is crucial to maintaining transparency and accuracy of inventory records in coordination with the operations team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Presence on site for direct intervention in case of discrepancies, material quality, and stock logistics.
- Ensure proper storage conditions and implement preventive measures against climate-related risks to avoid material damage. Control humidity and temperature levels, protect from direct sunlight, and use suitable packaging. Regular monitoring helps preserve material quality. These actions reduce deterioration and maintain inventory integrity.
- Verify and record real-time inventory movements, including material receipts, dispatches, returns, and internal transfers.
- Conduct daily or weekly physical checks of stock items to ensure alignment with accounting records.
- Ensure that every movement is properly supported by documentation (purchase orders, delivery notes, issue slips, etc.).
- Perform accounting adjustments in cases of shrinkage, damage, expirations, or losses, upon validation and authorization.
- Maintain both physical and digital archives of all warehouse-related logistical and accounting documents.
- Support the planning and execution of cycle counts and full inventory audits, and prepare related reports.
- Participate in operational meetings to discuss accounting findings and propose improvements to warehouse processes.
- Provide accounting support during on-site audits or internal control visits.
- Collaborate with the office-based team for monthly inventory reconciliations and stock valuation processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and warehouse safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory control from within the warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of logistics documentation and ERP or WMS systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments, solve issues on site, and communicate effectively with operational staff.
