You will provide business, functional, and data analysis expertise and manage stakeholder engagement with various initiatives of the Data Engineering team within Investor Services in line with corporate vision, for both projects and BAU initiatives involving data. We are looking for a functional expert and a passionate data management enthusiast with the ability to support the leadership team by collaborating with stakeholders, clients, data engineers, and system owners to drive delivery of various data transformation initiatives.
As a member of a dynamic, fast-paced team, this role brings strong data analysis skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a demonstrated capability to multi-task effectively. This role requires strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a demonstrated sense of urgency to respond to changing priorities at times. This is complemented by a positive attitude and a willingness to take accountability for results achieved.
What will you do?
- Work on complex data initiatives within RBC Investor Services that involve definition of the problem statement, determination of value proposition, business case preparation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Work closely with business partners/stakeholders on strategic initiatives to define scope; perform scope elaboration, make recommendations; collect, interpret, and analyze functional and non-functional requirements.
- Data discovery and analysis of core data products within key RBC Investor Services applications and data stores/lakes.
- Coordinate with domain experts, scrum masters, and PMs on gathering detailed requirements and document requirements/functional/non-functional specifications, perform data mapping and data analysis, and create wireframes according to existing standards and methodologies.
- Closely work with developers to ensure articulation of business requirements; ensuring strategic alignment between Data Management Office and business functions.
- Work with business stakeholders during project execution, prepare detailed test plans, coordinate user involvement, and UAT sign-off activities.
- Have a design thinking mindset for understanding and solving problems.
- Work closely and collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders.
What do you need to succeed? Must-have:
- 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, and working with financial products such as: Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, and related Derivatives products.
- Strong understanding of the data lifecycle, data quality concepts, and PL/SQL knowledge.
- Experience using business analysis and requirements modeling tools, such as: data flow diagrams, relational data models, business process modeling.
- Experience gathering requirements and analyzing custodial and/or financial data.
- Good communication skills with experience presenting to executives, large audiences, and conducting facilitation sessions.
- In-depth knowledge in data governance/stewardship with working knowledge of defining data quality requirements.
- Master's in Business Administration (MBA) degree, or similar experience.
Nice to Have
- Agile delivery practices including SAFe, Project Management qualification, e.g., PMP, Business Analysis Certification, e.g., CBAP.
- Experience with tools like Power BI.
- Experience with agile tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Experience on large scale Data lakes, Data warehouses, Cloud Solutions.
- Prior experience working with GDPR regulations and Data policies \& practices.
