In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.
FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción's presence in the Canadian market.
Project Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Cost Control Coordinator to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project.
This position is located in Toronto, ON.
As the Sr. Cost Control Coordinator, you'll oversee project expenditures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to budgets. Reporting to the Cost Control Lead, your role involves preparing cost reports, analyzing variances, and collaborating with departments to allocate expenses efficiently. Your attention to detail and financial acumen will drive effective cost management and support project success.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development, establishment, and maintenance of the project's cost control structure, including cost centers and resource codes.
- Prepare and maintain baseline budgets, forecasts, commitments, payments, and cost statements for monthly and ad-hoc reporting.
- Develop and manage cost control systems in alignment with project and company standards.
- Input and validate actual cost and commitment data in cost control systems; generate accurate and timely cost reports.
- Analyze cost data to identify variances, inconsistencies, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Allocate cost codes to project expenses and revenues, ensuring consistency across systems.
- Coordinate and allocate budgets for procurement requisitions, contracts, and purchase orders in accordance with the project's budget and procedures.
- Maintain cost-related registers and structured data tables, updating records regularly for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage commitments based on procurement contracts, amendments, change notices, purchase order revisions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly invoices to the client, ensuring alignment with project billing and cost data.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of client-facing reports as required by the contract or project requirements.
- Assist in the invoice reconciliation process as necessary, ensuring accuracy between project costs and billed amounts.
- Establish and update cost forecasts through periodic reviews of project cost centers.
- Participate in trend and change management processes, integrating approved changes into the estimate at completion (EAC).
- Monitor and report on project performance using key cost metrics and performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with construction, estimating, quantity surveying, finance, procurement, and commercial teams.
- Contribute to project risk review meetings, providing cost-related insights and analysis.
- Apply project management principles to support cost control activities and ensure project objectives are met.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related discipline, or equivalent project-related experience.
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in construction cost control in a multidisciplinary project environment.on multi-billion dollar programs/projects.
- Strong personal commitment to safety.
- Ability to foster a collaborative environment with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with cost control principles, policies, procedures, and financial systems.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is a must.
- Experience ERP systems and or /with SAP is a plus.
- Construction experience required.
