Position Summary
General Duties
- Providing advice, coaching, and guidance to researchers and managers on a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, absence and disability management, change management, employee retention, and legal and procedural compliance.
- Coaching and advising managers and employees to ensure effective and efficient issue resolution.
- Partnering with researchers and managers to foster a high-performance culture by implementing improvement strategies for underperforming employees.
- Assisting researchers, employees, and research trainees with work and study permit applications and related inquiries.
- Managing employee leaves, including disability, work-related injuries, and personal leaves, advising researchers and managers on return-to-work strategies and best practices.
- Participating in the development, facilitation, and implementation of HR projects and programs, including HR automation initiatives.
- Collaborating with researchers and managers to implement innovative HR practices that align with laboratory/division needs and objectives.
- Developing, coordinating, and delivering training sessions and presentations on HR topics for The Institute community.
- Making salary recommendations for new hires, positioning adjustments, etc.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and best practices by updating and creating HR procedures, internal training manuals, and relevant documentation, in collaboration with the Human Resources Specialist, Operations and Compensation.
- Staying informed about industry trends and best practices to enhance HR strategies and support program development.
