The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant ensures accuracy and integrity in the preparation of the monthly and year-end consolidated financial statements and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the Financial Controller in the month-end and year-end accounting close of the legal entities.
- Reconciles the sub-ledger balances to the general ledger account balances.
- Performs monthly intercompany reconciliations.
- Records all payroll-related transactions in the general ledger.
- Prepares account analysis and reconciliation on all balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinates with the broader Finance team to ensure month-end tasks are completed in accordance with the closing schedule.
- Coordinates with Mexico finance team for month-end and annual close reporting.
- Participates in the annual external audit process as well as any other audits as may be required.
- Integrates and standardizes the group accounting policies and month-end accounting processes.
- Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field.
- A CPA certification is required.
- At least 5 years experience in a similar position post-qualification.
- Experience working with US GAAP is an asset.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience in accounting systems (such as general ledger transactions and financial statements) with a mid to large enterprise.
- Self-starter with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is a must.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Navision is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, problem solve, and work with limited supervision.
- Must be an excellent team member and able to juggle multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingual - French and English.
