Role description:
We are currently seeking a Junior/Intermediate Transportation Engineer based in British Columbia, with the flexibility to work remotely, in a hybrid capacity, or from our Vancouver or Kelowna offices as needed.
Working closely with senior engineers and planners, this position will provide technical support and services to the Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning team, contributing to impactful projects primarily within Western Canada.

Role accountabilities:
As part of your role, you will work on a variety of tasks, including conducting traffic impact studies and preparing Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plans, which involve collecting transportation data, building traffic analysis models, and performing traffic analyses. You will also undertake parking studies, such as reviewing municipal policies, calculating parking utilization and demand rates, conducting site visits, and developing parking supply recommendations. Additionally, your work will include designing traffic signals by preparing signal timing and phasing plans. You will assist in the preparation of reports, technical memos, and other engineering documents, while contributing to multi-disciplinary projects. These projects may include creating high-level roadway conceptual designs, such as traffic signage and pavement marking plans, as well as developing traffic management and control plans for construction activities.
Qualifications \& Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation
- 3 or more years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning
- Working knowledge of Synchro and/or similar traffic analysis software is required
- Ability in AutoCAD at a basic level is required; additional skill would be beneficial
- Working knowledge of EMME, VISSIM, SIDRA, VISTRO, AUTOTURN would each be beneficial
- Working knowledge of TAC/ BC/ Alberta / municipal geometric design standards is beneficial
- Must possess a collaborative attitude in working with other members of a transportation team
- Must be able to work independently with direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of the assignment(s)
- Must demonstrate an ability to work within established timelines, and within project budgets

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $117,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
