Overview
Hemlane is looking for a Sr Director of Operations to run our Calgary based sales and oeprations team. We're reinventing property management for the everyday person. Rental owners get access to a platform that allows them to manage their properties from anywhere in the world by using our software and services.
We're looking for someone to lead our Calgary-based operations team and handle all things strategy and execution. The position requires someone who is passionate about creating innovative solutions, is deeply focused on the right things, and delights customers along the way. Your work will directly impact the entire real estate industry and how properties are managed in the future. Having a track record of success at fast-growth venture-backed companies is a must.

Responsibilities
- Drive the successful performance and delivery of the organization -- lead and drive execution across all our operations programs.
- Define and implement operations strategy, structure, and processes.
- Manage the quarterly and annual budgeting process and P\&L responsibilities.
- Assist in developing budgets for the company.
- Monitor performance to proactively identify efficiency issues and propose solutions.
- Report to the Chief Operations Officer on a regular basis regarding the state of affairs of the company.
- Attend regular meetings with the Board of Directors and executive team.
- Audit work sites to determine safety.
- Evaluate the organization's structures and procedures such as decision-making regarding increasing market capitalization or international business strategies.
- Assess the founding principles of the organization and determine if the company is in alignment with those principles.
- Represent the organization at events and media appearances.
- Arbitrate and negotiate differences and disagreements both internally and externally to promote a cordial company ethos.
- Organize meetings with executives and department heads to discuss management plans and the company's direction.
- Participate in the hiring process of division heads.
- Interview, hire, and mentor the operations management team.
- Provide regular performance updates to the senior leadership team.
Requirements
The best candidates will:
- Show strong operations experience: 10 years working in operations leadership
- Have worked in a fast paced environment: From Series Seed to Series C, you have seen hyper growth and understand what it takes to get product market fit.
- Know SaaS: You've thrived in defining SaaS platforms and understand the complexities of cohesively bringing together multiple workflows and tasks.
- Excel at tackling complex product problems: You're able to break down the needs from a customer pain point and reinvent how to solve these needs.
- Have a track record: Your resume should have data to back up the impact you had on the companywide metrics and KPIs.
- Speak technology language: How do we solve problems with technology? This should always be the first question and you should be very comfortable with this topic.
- Interpret needs and market trends: You build for the future, not the past.
- Be collaborative: You over-communicate and solicit teammates' feedback and opinions. You earn respect from the rest of the organization through your interpersonal effectiveness and strategic thinking.
- Be hyper organized: With many ideas and suggestions, you are able to synthesize everything into a clear product roadmap for folks to understand why we're working on what we're doing today (and what is in store for the future).
- Create process flows: From being overloaded in tasks and responsibilities, you are accustomed to writing everything down in an easy to understand manner to make sure you can help build an entire support team.
- Show a strong work ethic: You are able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. If you are looking for a standard weekday job, this is not for you.
- Have a college degree: BS/BA degree preferred.
- (Bonus) Understand rental owners and the real estate market:You have an understanding of our customers' needs and pain points.
Location
Calgary, Alberta. Relocation packages are available. We have an office in downtown Calgary near memoral park and expect this person to be a key in-person leader for this office.
