Our leading healthcare client is looking for an application architect to join their team on an 11 month term with high chance for extension. This role will be a remote position.
The Application Architect will design and support the implementation of one or more tools as part of an integrated platform that will support interoperability efforts and corporate data governance.
Key Objectives for the Tooling Platform:
- A microsite or platform to host the data content standard, common data architecture, and adoption tools.
- An integration architecture to connect key platform components (e.g., business glossary, reference data management, data models).
- A content management and publication system that supports a variety of formats (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel, XMI, Erwin).
- A feedback mechanism to gather input from external stakeholders on published standards and architecture versions.
- A release management solution for artifacts and products.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (analysts, subject matter experts, architects) to define architecture requirements.
- Analyze and incorporate high-level requirements into the tooling architecture.
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical application architecture within the AWS Cloud environment.
- Develop a tooling roadmap and transitional architectures.
- Support the data architecture team in evolving and adopting the Healthcare Reference Standard Semantic Logical Data Model (currently over 900 elements).
- Conduct an environmental scan of health data standards and tooling (e.g., FHIR, HL7 RIM, SNOMED CT, LOINC, PS-CA, USCDI, OMOP, ISO-13940, ISO-11179).
- Create solution architecture to integrate various products and technologies.
- Collaborate with ITS teams to support implementation and integration.
- Develop and demonstrate Proof of Concepts (PoCs) using vendor and open-source tools (e.g., Mauro Data Mapper, Konveio, Informatica).
- Document and communicate architecture artifacts to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies with the project team.
- Evaluate and respond to solution proposals from an application architecture perspective.
- Provide tactical planning support for future development phases.
- Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of the tooling solution.
Qualifications \& Experience:
- Proven experience in application architecture and tooling solutions in complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based platforms, especially AWS.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing data-centric platforms with a focus on collaboration, content management, and governance.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and navigate complex health system landscapes.
