Zurich Canada is looking for a Pricing Actuary to join our growing team to support the Property and Liability business units. This role can be based in either the Toronto or Montreal Zurich Canada offices.
The Pricing Actuary leads the reviews of rating tools, portfolio management, and strategies in support of business objectives. In this role, the actuary will partner with key stakeholders from the business, global pricing teams and reserving to review pricing algorithms and implement the rating tools in production and track the performance and accuracy of key pricing metrics.

What you will do
- A high level of responsibility, ownership, and ability to influence strategic decisions. Work directly with the business and leadership teams and use data-driven insights to influence outcomes.
- Continuous improvement of the Commercial Property and Liability pricing algorithm. Set and communicate the pricing algorithm requirements for production systems.
- Monitor performance of the Property and Liability book, and track accuracy and completeness of key performance indicators. Be an advocate for the importance of data in portfolio management.
- Investment in upscaling pricing capabilities.

- Calculate profit margins on new and renewals of business.
- Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analysis.
- Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues.
- Support Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on pricing decisions.
- Ensure the implementation of required governance processes, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications
What you bring to the table
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics / Statistics or Actuarial Sciences
AND
- 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area.
- FCAS or equivalent international certification
OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics / Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area.
- ACAS or equivalent international certification.
Preferred:
- FCAS designation
- Previous actuarial pricing experience in Commercial Lines of business.
- Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and /or knowledge of statistical analysis software (such as SQL and R)
- Verbal and written proficiency in the English language is required to facilitate communication with internal and external key stakeholders located outside of Quebec.
